This barn property in the Kent countryside always had a lot of potential. After being vacant for a few years, the property had fallen into some dilapidation. So when the new homeowners got their hands on it, a 4 month restoration process quickly began. They completely gutted the interior of the property as well was knocking through huge openings in the front and rear of the house, which we would install our curtain walling into.
Firstly, the couple headed over to our showroom to see narrow down what they wanted. They knew they wanted aluminium windows and doors due to aluminium being maintenance free and maximising light slim frames. So we suggested our Smart Alitherm 300 casement windows, which looked perfect for what they wanted. The couple liked the chamfered bead on the window as opposed to the square as it suited the traditional property more than the very modern square option.
Something that the couple were unsure on was the colour. Having seen a lot of RAL 7016 Anthracite grey aluminium installations across Kent and on the internet, they were initially quite sure on that colour. However, with our new Smart Sensations colours range, we have a few samples at our showroom in Vulcan Black, a very popular colour. The couple preferred this Vulcan Black colour and decided to go with it instead.
The next decision was the front curtain walling screen and front entrance. The couple wanted to create a grand entrance, partly involving using a different coloured infill panel in the front door. As you can see on the photos below, they chose cream to offset the black curtain walling. The rest after that was fairly simple to decide with simple functional opening designs.
Enjoy the photos of the installation below and we we will add the “before” photos as soon as the customer sends them to us!
