This couple, like many others, stumbled into our Kent showroom whilst on a shopping trip at the Millbrook Garden Centre at Staplehurst, where our showroom is based. Seeing our black coloured aluminium sliding doors with what was, at the time, our fairly new super slimline 35mm central meeting style. The slimline mullion has attracted much attention recently. With a 35mm cental meeting style, and with other doors on the market with meeting styles of 120mm, these doors really are “slimline”.
They were interested in changing the timber sliding doors they currently had installed, which had been in for many years. As is often the case with older timber windows and doors, in particular soft wood, they had suffered with warping, bowing and discolouration. This was in turn causing air draught and water ingress.
From an aesthetic point of view, they also wanted to really modernise the look of the doors. They felt that the diamond lead they had on the glazed units was starting to look really quite dated.
Anyway, an appointment was made for James to meet with the couple at their home. The plan was for him to measure up, answer any more questions the customers might have about the product and the ordering process with us. This included showing the couple a RAL colour chart for them to choose a colour for their aluminium. They went for RAL 8029 Matt both sides. We also were to supply a new Golden Oak internal window boards too to match the brown coloured aluminium sliding doors.
A couple of days later, James sent through a quote, which was duly accepted. Everything was surveyed and ordered up and as we were so busy at the time, around 7 weeks later, we attended site and installed everything in a morning.
Check out the before and after photos below to see the installation in more detail.
