Many of us use hotels regularly for business and for leisure, but how often do we consider the detail that goes into making them feel safe and secure? Just like a home from home.
Smart aluminium windows and doors add the finishing touches that can bring a hotel together, and such was the case with the installation we did for Travelodge in Maidstone.
A great reputation
Based right in the heart of Maidstone city centre, the new Travelodge hotel was designed with a modern aesthetic throughout the interior and exterior. With 113 rooms and a contemporary cafe bar, this budget hotel had high expectations to offer travellers more than a comfy bed for the night.
The contractor initially came to us because they were impressed by a previous local installation we’d done at The Lashings Bar in the city centre. This space benefited hugely from our aluminium windows and doors.
They were also reassured by our locality to where the hotel was initially proposed – we know the area very well which meant we also knew it’s restrictions in terms of getting products to and from the site.
Moving the project forward
All we initially had to work with on this Travelodge project were a selection of simple drawings from the architect. The plans reflected the structure of the build, but required recommendations from our team on the right products for a hotel of this size.
Firstly, we proposed our Smart Alitherm 800 aluminium windows in grey. With a sturdy feel and specialist thermal efficiency, these windows could be adapted with restrictors on the all openings to limit how far they open – perfect for meeting safety requirements. They have slim frames with a slick, clean look, which would partner perfectly with the stylish exterior of the building.
Alongside a Smart aluminium windows solution, we recommended Senior Architectural System doors with automatic opening gearing. This would allow sensors to open and close the doors electronically.
All of our doors are fitted with the latest Saint Gobain glass and argon-filled sealed units. We also use multi-chambered frames and warm edge composite spacer bars in them to give them the best thermal values available.
Once the contractor was happy with our proposal, we moved forward into the quoting phase.
On time and within budget
Our director Derek and estimator David worked together to accurately quote for this large scale project. On approval, the order was placed and our team planned out how to survey the site.
Due to the nature of the project, our team surveyed the site in stages to assess how the time slots for installation would be best organised.
Once this was confirmed, and as the time slots became available, the windows and doors were installed in stages. This meant we could keep to a tight schedule without holding up any other phases of the build.
