Aluminium double doors in RAL 7016 anthracite grey installed into this barn in Kent.

Aluminium double doors with a thin frame and matching shaped glazing above was the brief on this project.

These customers in Faversham came to us during their visit to the Millbrook Garden Centre (TN12 9BT), in which our showroom is based. They stumbled into our showroom and found our aluminium window and door samples to look at and get to grips with. After chatting with our showroom manager Georgia, an appointment was made for one of our team James to go out to the property.

At the property, James took basic measurements required for us to price up the installation. As you can see from the photos below, it required aluminium double doors with shaped windows above. However, it was slightly more complicated than that. After doing a bit of digging, it turned out that new steel lintels or I-beams were required in between the aluminium double doors and the shaped windows above. As a steel lintel was required, colour matched aluminium pressings were also required to cloak the lintel on both the inside and the outside. As well as this extra work, we needed new timber cheeks to replace the old ones, which were beginning to rot. They were essential to finish off the job properly.

We quoted the customer and after another visit at our showroom to go look again at our Smart aluminium double doors through the finer details, the order was placed with a deposit and a signed order form.

Around a week to 10 days later, our surveyor Terry attended the property to take full and final measurements. This involved chiselling away at the timber to ascertain the true heights and widths, as well as determining the size of the lintel that was required.

Then, around 8 weeks from then, our fitting team Dave and Stuart carried out the installation over two days in the Great British September rain!

All that’s required now is the timber cheeks to be painted and it’s all done!
