When you think minimalism, do you imagine a Grand Design’s style new build property? At DWL our mission is to demonstrate that frameless sliding glass can elevate the look of all luxury properties – whatever their style may be.
With this in mind, recently we were delighted to work on a Georgian mansion situated on a private estate in Oxsted, Surrey. It was vital to add a touch of modernity to the property while ensuring the sliding doors remained in-keeping with the style of the existing property. Here’s how we made it happen using minimal sliding glass doors…
Choosing designs that complement a traditional home
The brief from the customers was to complement the open plan living space and the traditional Victorian sliding sash windows through the addition of a slimline framed sliding door system.
Having seen the DWL Slimline – 20 Sliding doors in action at the Grand Designs show at London Excel, our customers instantly recognised the high calibre of the product. Especially as they had been unable to find anything remotely similar on the market.
DWL Slimline – 20 Sliding doors ticked all the boxes for our customers as it boasts the most minimal sightlines in existence. They preferred it to all other sliding door solutions they saw as onlyDWL Slimline – 20 Sliding doors could look equal all the way around the frames without it looking obvious that a sliding door was ‘obstructing’ the view.
A picturesque addition to an already stunning property
We worked closely with the customers’ Surrey-based architect on the project, with our project consultant Dan managing the quote and going over sectional details via email. As soon as this was completed, we moved onto the installation stage.
As soon as the steelwork and blockwork was in place, the builder called to book in our surveyor Terry. He surveyed the site with customer and builder to make sure floor levels were flush.
Around five weeks later, we were onsite to install the outer frames. This meant other trades could carry on working, making the project super-efficient and time savvy for the customers. Four weeks later, we installed the glass and the project was complete.
This project stands out to us as it really shows howDWL Slimline – 20 Sliding doors can open up possibilities within design. These customers now have a sliding door system that looks more like an idyllic picture window, perfectly in-line with the aesthetic of their luxury private estate in Surrey.
Our team is especially pleased that when you look at the property, it’s not clear which panes move and which panes are fixed. This means the minimal sliding glass feature looks beautifully symmetrical and more like a pretty window than a sliding door, giving these customers the best of both worlds.
