Maximising space using DWL Slimline – 20 Sliding doors

Maximising space using DWL Slimline – 20 Sliding doors in Surrey

Making changes to your home is an exciting time. But if you have to make a compromise, lose out on space or things take a little longer than expected, it can take the shine off the experience. At DWL we pride ourselves on working with you, accommodating your brief wherever possible to ensure you get the outcome you envisioned.

During this project in Reigate, Surrey we built a fantastic relationship with our customers. Helping them achieve the glazed extension they dreamt of using aluminium sliding glass – without compromising on space or aesthetic.

A living space with seamless flow

One of the most common reasons for adding an extension to a property is to open up space – and possibilities of what can be achieved within the space. Whether you’re after a dedicated BBQ zone, an open-plan reading nook or somewhere the entire family can get together, an extension can offer endless inspiration.

These customers were after exactly that. In particular, they requested products that would help them create a relaxing zone that flowed from outdoors to indoors – while maintaining lots of natural light and a tasteful modern style.

Support to move swiftly through the process

Knowing you’re in safe hands at each stage is the key to a happy renovation. These customers felt they were guided and kept in the know throughout.

Our project consultant Georgia first met the clients at a Grand Designs show we were exhibiting at. After being impressed with her expertise, the customers decided to book a bespoke appointment at our luxury showroom.

It was here they were able to see just how durable and minimalist DWL Slimline – 20 Sliding doors are which helped them to feel confident in making their product selection.

After all the paperwork was sorted, our surveyor Terry surveyed the site with customer and builder to make sure floor levels were flush and would work with the aluminium sliding glass.

Installation was completed in two parts, installing the outer frame 4 weeks prior to the main installation (so as not to interrupt other trades). We then returned at a later date to fit the glass. All in all, this was the perfect example of just how fuss-free an extension can be.

Taking care of the little things

When all the details come together in the right way, you’re guaranteed that all important wow factor. During this project we were only too happy to lend our expertise to some of the smaller design elements to make this extension truly one of a kind.

First, we consulted on colour. Our project consultant suggested brushed platinum anodised finish to complement the white interior paint and light coloured tiling. We also had a trick up our sleeve – the idea being that the  brushed platinum tends to ‘vanish’ into the daylight, creating a minimalist illusion.

We then suggested the customers add solar control glass to the doors given that they were south facing to reduce solar gain. This would improve energy efficiency (and those pesky heating bills) and be kinder to the planet. A win win!

Our team were also delighted to impress these customers with the possibilities that could be achieved. The floating corner addition in particular was a welcome surprise to the customers who didn’t know it was possible. The fact that the frame could slide easily into a pocket wall really helped to create the illusion of more space while decreasing sightlines – and the customers thought it looked stunning.

There’s really no better feeling than going above and beyond for our customers. And we’re super proud of how pleased these customers are with their new space. Their aluminium sliding glass doors mean they’re now able to enjoy a naturally lit relaxation zone all year round, surrounded by the beautiful outdoors. Perfect.
