This project arrived with us through the Schuco website enquiry section, where homeowners, architects and main contractors can request contact from their local Schuco fabricators and installers. This is to ensure customers are given a couple of different quotes to compare.
On this occasion we were communicating directly with the owner of the property, who was expanding the building upwards with a rooftop penthouse apartment extension. We answered all of the initial questions and got to know the owner quite well throughout the quoting process.
Along with the enquiry, we were sent images of the building as it currently stood, showing all of the existing aluminium doors and doors in the building. As the extension was going onto the roof, it was essential to match up the spec of the doors with what was below. This was Schuco AWS70HI doors and Schuco ASS70 door sets. The only difference was, as a residential dwelling, the new penthouse apartment needed protection from the hustle and bustle of the offices and recording studios below, as well as the noisy road. So we straight away suggested our Stadip Silence acoustic glass, which is a laminated outer pane as well as other noise reducing properties. This can be read about further here on Saint Gobain’s website or by downloading the Stadip Silence PDF document here.
We supplied and installed everything over the space of a week using winches and pulleys to get everything to the top of the building. The Schuco AWS70 HI windows and ASS70 hHI lift and side doors go perfectly with those in the rest of the building. The apartment is now used as a holiday let. We and the client are very happy with the end result. The client particularly commented on how effective the acoustic glazing is, totally drowning out the noise from the street and offices that surround the apartment.
