Having already crossed Olympic gold medals off her to do list, Dame Kelly took on a derelict building that was once home to a local business. See below how the building looked beforehand! The plan was to completely renovate the old building into a new Cafe 1809 in the heart of Hildenborough. Our slim frame aluminium doors would come in handy!
The project to completely renovate this building arrived with us at planning drawings stage. Everything was sent through by email and we priced everything as per the drawings in terms of sizes and designs. The drawings specified slim frame aluminium doors and windows.
As the quote looked sensible, the customer came down to the showroom to have a look at exactly what the windows and doors we had quoted for looked like. Impressed with what she saw (and after a bit of inevitable price negotiation!), the order was placed and our surveyor was booked in.
Around a week later, our surveyor Terry attended site to measure everything up. As some apertures were not yet fully made, some sizes were agreed upon, i.e. the customers builder agrees to make an aperture a certain size in order to avoid a longer lead time. The most important aspect of this tends to be getting the floor levels right on the doors, particularly the bifolds. Most of our customers require their internal floor levels to run up to as close as possible to the top of the frame, so they really get the feeling of the internal and external becoming one with a flush level. This is obviously in addition to the requirement of slim frame aluminium doors and windows.
The pressure was on to get the slim frame aluminium doors and windows installed before the big launch date of the cafe 1809 and we found the solution to do so. Check out the finished photos below…
